Artistic brushes for professional oil painting – which do I need?

Which artistic brushes do you need for professional oil painting, summary:

1. The hardest type of brushes for oil painting is bristle and the softest is synthetic. The other types fall between the two.
2. Synthetic brushes are good for laying paint in a thin, smooth layer without texture. They are good for painting smooth areas.
3. Bristle brushes are good for laying paint in a dense, textured layer, but you can also lay paint thinly with them.
4. Using different types of brushes, you can control the thickness and texture of paint layers on the canvas
5. With a bristle brush you can do characteristic “torn” strokes. It is useful for painting grass blades,
leaves, etc.
6. There are also fan brushes, and they come in varying degrees of hardness. With them you can smooth the texture of paint layers without blurring.
7. It’s better to use a kolinsky fan brush for smoothing, not a synthetic fan brush.
8. It’s convenient to paint grass with bristle fan brushes. It is especially good to keep an old and a new bristle fan brush in your set.
9. It’s often useful to keep old brushes because they have a characteristic “stroke” which you can sometimes use.
