How to sharpen a pencil with a paper knife properly

How to sharpen a pencil with a paper knife properly

  1. Pencil sharpeners don’t sharpen pencils correctly. You need an ordinary retractable paper knife for that.
  2. A blunt knife breaks pencil lead.
  3. Make movements directed away from yourself, rotating the blade a little, creating an arched movement. You should leave a sufficient length of the wood and lead exposed.
  4. You should sharpen the pencil into a trash can. Do it accurately in order to keep your walls clear from graphite dust and pencil peelings. They are sometimes quite hard to clean up as they stick to the wall.
  5. Lastly, you should sharpen the end of the lead to a fine point. You can do this either with the knife or sandpaper.
